We’ve spent our first two days in Quito to get over the
travel (24hours), adjust to the time (- 6 hours) and the altitude (2850 m). We're already feeling much better, although still in need of a pick me up in the mid
afternoon and waking up at 3 am.
The obligatory open top tour of the city helped orientate
ourselves and after that we have been exploring a little of this lovely city, and
doing a walking tour as well.
Our first attempt at a small beer worked fine with neither
of us getting the banging altitude headaches, so far so good.
We’re staying quite close to a modern area with loads of bars and
restaurants which is handy but a bit noisy at night. Hotel basic but clean and
friendly. Wonderful walking tour of the La Floresta district, an area of older
grand buildings, street art, restaurants and coffee shops.
Tomorrow we head of for 3 days in the Ecuadorian jungle.

Looks great. Loving the old worldly architecture. Have fun in the jungle!
