Well OFF we go again......................

Well it might not seem much to you BUT packing our bags for our first trip to South America is quite a big thing for us. We're away for nearly 7 weeks and we'll visit Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. This BLOG will be more photos than words and the best thing about it will be that..................if you find us boring then you don't ever have to look again! Unlike Facebook where it would be all over your feed every day.

After a brief stopover in Miami we land in Quito for a couple of nights. Quito is the capital city of Ecuador, and is 2,850 metres above sea level, it is the second highest official capital city in the world after La Paz, Bolivia, (where we'll end up) and it's the capital closest to the equator.

It is located in the Guayllabamba river basin, on the eastern slopes of Pichincha, an active volcano in the Andes mountains. The historic center of Quito has one of the largest, least-altered and best-preserved historic centers in the Americas. The central square of Quito is located about 25 k south of the equator.

After Quito we set off to explore the jungles, hills and towns of Ecuador and then head down to the coast and the beaches of Punta Sal in northern Peru. We then head south through Peru's deserts to the ruined Moche city of Chan Chan, then climb up to the spectacular Andean town of Huaraz, before heading to the chaotic capital of Peru, Lima.



From Lima we continue down the coast to the dunes of Huacachina, and then overland to the mysterious Nazca Lines. We'll then climb up into the highlands to visit the colonial city of Arequipa and the breathtaking Colca Canyon, before staying at a local Quechua village on our way to the phenomenal city of Cuzco.

Cuzco is our base the Inca Trail and a visit to the famous ruined city of Machu Picchu. After Cuzco, we will head south to Lake Titicaca and its sacred Inca island of Isla del Sol, and then move on to the thriving Bolivian city of La Paz for our last night before flying home, just in time for the December madness.
